New york: "Housing is one of the main areas where equality in societies manifests itself in a real way and is directly linked to women's safety, economic independence, and social well-being," UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed stated during an event at WUF13, APA reports. Mohammed underscored the significance of safe and affordable housing as not merely a shelter but as a place of dignity and a cornerstone for new opportunities for women.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Amina Mohammed emphasized that having a home empowers women to pursue education, engage in work, escape abusive relationships, and build independent lives. However, the Deputy Secretary-General pointed out that the global housing crisis is deepening and does not affect everyone equally. She highlighted that women in informal settlements, migrants, women with disabilities, indigenous communities, and those displaced due to conflicts face heightened challenges.

Mohammed further stated that women's land and housing rights are frequently overlooked, and their access to financial and credit resources is limited, increasing their vulnerability to violence and social instability. She called for the development of inclusive housing policies for women, the expansion of financial and credit access, and the strengthening of the role of civil society to address these issues effectively.
