Baku: The discussions held at the WUF13 forum in Baku are forming the basis for the process leading to WUF14 and contributing to strengthening practical approaches aimed at transforming global commitments into local results, Maimunah Mohd Sharif, former Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said during the event titled 'Advancing Housing Through Multilateralism: From Global Commitments to Local Impact' held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Sharif emphasized that the transition from WUF13 to WUF14 involves reinforcing local implementation. She noted that global housing commitments yield tangible outcomes only when translated into local policies and practical actions. Cities need to first identify their own challenges and then study international experiences to apply them in accordance with local conditions.

Sharif highlighted the necessity of coordinating global agendas among regional, national, and local levels, involving communities and the private sector in the process. She pointed out that the success of policies relies on support through concrete budgets, implementation mechanisms, and investment opportunities. Housing policy should foster a conducive environment for investors and financial institutions to attract more investment for affordable housing projects.
