Baku: Participants of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku are discussing issues related to the future of cities in a spirit of resilience, determination, and shared purpose, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Anacl¡udia Rossbach said during the opening ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, despite the heavy rain and thunderstorms observed in Azerbaijan in recent days, the forum has been organized at a high level. Anacl¡udia Rossbach highlighted the importance of resilience, stating, "We have gathered in Baku today in a spirit of resilience. This is exactly what we want for cities as well: resilience, determination, and a sense of shared purpose."

The head of UN-Habitat emphasized the challenges cities face amidst the climate crisis, conflicts, and forced displacement, noting that more than one billion people currently live without access to basic services such as water, sanitation, electricity, decent jobs, and education. Rossbach stressed that the primary task for cities today is to make decent housing accessible to everyone.

In her remarks, Rossbach also pointed out the difficulties faced by young people, the elderly, migrants, and newcomers in obtaining housing in many cities, while social inequality continues to deepen. The forum aims to address these pressing issues and seek solutions to enhance urban resilience and improve living conditions for all.
