Baku: Youth must be recognized as an integral part of decision-making processes, emphasized Zeina Elzein, a member of the UN-Habitat Youth Advisory Board, during a discussion with AZERTAC. Elzein highlighted the importance of engaging youth and other stakeholders through practical, action-based initiatives under the 'New Urban Agenda.'
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Elzein stressed that young people should be more than mere participants in discussions and should be integrated into decision-making structures. She pointed out the barriers young people face, noting how institutional systems can impede public participation and limit accessibility for youth in these critical processes.
Elzein further advocated for the allocation of dedicated seats at decision-making tables for diverse groups, including youth, women, and children. This inclusion, she argued, is essential to ensure that these groups can contribute meaningfully to discussions and have a voice in shaping decisions that impact their lives.
