Baku: Housing issues have become one of the most important topics on urban agendas: During the session titled 'From Policy to Impact: Housing Delivery at Scale' held within the framework of WUF13, UN-Habitat project management specialist Haesung Ahn discussed the pressing challenges in housing provision. Ahn emphasized that despite housing being a fundamental right and basic need, numerous problems persist in this area.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ahn pointed out that cities worldwide contribute to over 70 percent of global GDP. However, the primary issues include homes being situated too far from workplaces, the inaccessibility of affordable housing projects, and the rapid expansion of informal settlements that outpace the capabilities of existing planning systems. These challenges have elevated housing issues to a top priority on national and urban agendas.

Ahn concluded the session by highlighting that many countries are increasingly focusing on sustainability, adequacy, and financial affordability in their urban planning policies to address these housing challenges effectively.
