Baku:The United Nations is focusing on expanding its activities in Azerbaijan, particularly in relation to sustainable development.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Dmytro Shlapachenko, emphasized the significance of the textbook titled 'Sustainable Development Policy' as a valuable resource for educating young people about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The book is seen as more than just a publication; it serves as a platform for understanding the progress and challenges related to the SDGs.
Shlapachenko highlighted Azerbaijan's commitment to the SDGs, noting that the country has submitted four Voluntary National Reviews on their implementation. The UN is keen to strengthen its cooperation with the Azerbaijani government through strategic dialogue, events, and cultural initiatives.
He also mentioned the government's willingness to work closely with the UN, referencing discussions with the President of Azerbaijan about potential areas for increased collaboration. A strategic dialogue is planned in Garabagh, which Shlapachenko described as a significant step forward.
