Baku: 'We are currently in a very complex geopolitical situation,' Dmitro Shlapachenko, newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, said during a panel session at the Fourth Climate Week (CW4) conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Shlapachenko emphasized that climate has no borders, describing it as an undeniable fact. He cited personal experiences witnessing the impact of dust storms originating from Central Asia as evidence of the transboundary nature of climate issues. Shlapachenko called for solidarity, stressing that discussions on climate encompass broader themes such as social development, economic stability, and conflict prevention, all of which are interconnected.

Shlapachenko highlighted the increasing competition for natural resources as a pressing concern. He asserted that solidarity is crucial to addressing these challenges effectively. As the world looks forward to future climate summits, particularly from COP29 to COP31, Shlapachenko reiterated the necessity of embracing solidarity as the guiding principle for successful outcomes.
