UN Secretary General Congratulates Azerbaijani President on Independence Day

Baku: Ant³nio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, has addressed a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the letter from Guterres extends greetings to President Aliyev, emphasizing the significance of national celebrations as moments to reflect on global challenges that require cooperative solutions. The letter highlights the growing list of international tests such as the climate crisis, conflicts, and rising inequalities, and underscores the importance of multilateralism in addressing these issues.

Guterres references the “Pact for the Future,” a measure adopted last year by the United Nations General Assembly. This initiative aims to advance peace, sustainable development, and human rights, reinforcing the need for multilateral efforts. He concludes the letter by conveying his best wishes to the people of Azerbaijan on their special day, expressing his highest consideration for President Aliyev.
