UNDP Representative Commends Azerbaijan’s Commitment to Multilateral Climate Change Efforts

BAKU — During a recent speech on the topic "Increasing Resilience and a Sustainable Future: The Role of Human Development in Combating Climate Change," UNDP Resident Representative a.i. in Azerbaijan, Alessandra Roccasalvo, commended Azerbaijan for its robust support of the multilateral system addressing climate change.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Roccasalvo praised Azerbaijan's efforts, noting, "We are here to combat climate change. However, this must be done in a way that benefits the population and offers hope for the future. In this regard, I would like to express my gratitude to Azerbaijan for being a true supporter of the multilateral system." Her remarks highlighted the importance of collaborative international efforts in addressing global climate challenges.

Roccasalvo further discussed Azerbaijan's unique climatic challenges, referencing her recent visit to Nakhchivan. She noted the significant temperature differences within the country, which has nine distinct climate zones and faces issues like water scarcity and erosion. This diversity underscores the urgency and complexity of environmental issues affecting Azerbaijan and similar regions.

Azerbaijan's active participation in global climate dialogues and its support for sustainable development initiatives were emphasized as vital to fostering resilience and hope in the face of environmental adversities.
