UNFCCC Executive Secretary Thanks Azerbaijan for COP29 Leadership

Istanbul: The Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Simon Stiell, has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan, APA's Trkiye bureau reports. Stiell's remarks came during a press conference in Istanbul, part of the ongoing preparations for COP31.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Stiell extended his thanks to both Brazil and Azerbaijan for their leadership roles in the climate change conferences. Brazil is currently chairing COP30, while Azerbaijan took the helm at COP29. Stiell highlighted the importance of these conferences in fostering international cooperation amidst global challenges.

Stiell also pointed out that COP31, scheduled to take place in Antalya, promises to be productive. He emphasized the significance of climate action in bringing stability to a world facing instability, mistrust, and economic challenges. Stiell's comments reflect the critical role of international climate efforts in addressing global disorder.
