Baku: Azerbaijan's non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have submitted proposals across 90 areas for consideration at the upcoming World Urban Forum 13 (WUF13). "Preparations for WUF13 are currently being carried out actively," stated Anna Soave, Head of the Country Office of the UN Human Settlements Programme, during a training session titled 'The Role of Civil Society in Sustainable Urban Development' organized for NGOs, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Soave emphasized the significance of Azerbaijan's experience in hosting prestigious events, such as COP29 in 2024, indicating that WUF13 will be organized at a high level. She highlighted President Ilham Aliyev's declaration of 2026 as the 'Year of Urban Development' as a testament to the country's commitment to urban development.

The event, scheduled from May 11 to 17, will feature extensive exchanges of views among participants. Azerbaijan's NGOs have already submitted proposals in 90 different areas. Globally, a total of 1,400 proposals have been submitted, of which 350 will be selected. For those proposals not selected, alternative participation opportunities and certain conditions are available.
