Baku: A unified certification system is needed for green energy exports from Azerbaijan to Europe, said Rana Humbatova, Deputy Director of the State Agency on Renewable Energy Sources (AREA), during the session titled 'From Green Energy to Regional Integration: Energy Bridges' at the Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Rana Humbatova emphasized the importance of harmonizing electricity market rules among Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Central Asian countries to establish an integrated renewable energy market with Europe. She highlighted that mutually recognized certification systems are crucial for facilitating international trade in green energy.
Rana Humbatova pointed out the necessity of reliable and internationally recognized certification mechanisms for green electricity exported from Central Asia and Azerbaijan to be acknowledged in the European market. In 2023, regional countries initiated cooperation to establish a system of certificates of origin for electricity generated from renewable energy sources.
The AREA official also mentioned that integrating power grids, unified planning, data exchange, and creating digital platforms are vital steps towards forming a regional green energy market.
