Uraloglu to Attend Opening Ceremony of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway

Baku: Trkiye's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu will attend the official opening ceremony of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway to be held in Georgia on June 2, the minister's press adviser Osman Bekar told APA's Trkiye bureau. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Akhalkalaki railway station in Georgia. Officials from Azerbaijan and Georgia are also expected to participate in the event.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, although the BTK railway has been operating in test mode since 2017, the project's official inauguration will only take place now. The railway spans a total length of 827 kilometers, with 213 kilometers crossing through Georgian territory. The construction of the Georgian section was financed through a loan of $775 million provided by Azerbaijan, and the loan is planned to be repaid through the revenues generated by the project.
