Ursula von der Leyen Highlights EU’s Commitment to Regional Future

Baku: The European Union believes in the bright future of this region, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen stated during a press conference with President Ilham Aliyev. This announcement was made as part of ongoing discussions to enhance the economic partnership between the EU and Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, von der Leyen emphasized that the European Union is Azerbaijan's largest trading partner and biggest investor. She highlighted the importance of resuming negotiations on a new comprehensive agreement, which is viewed as a significant step toward expanding trade relations. This renewed agreement aims to unlock potential opportunities for Azerbaijan and the EU to deepen their economic ties.

Von der Leyen expressed a commitment to work collaboratively to establish lasting peace in the South Caucasus, improve connectivity with Europe, the Caspian region, and Central Asia, and strengthen the partnership between the regions. She underscored the EU's confidence in the region's future and the potential benefits of reinforced cooperation.
