Baku: The European Union believes in the bright future of this region, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen stated during a press conference with President Ilham Aliyev. This announcement was made as part of ongoing discussions to enhance the economic partnership between the EU and Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, von der Leyen emphasized that the European Union is Azerbaijan's largest trading partner and biggest investor. She highlighted the importance of resuming negotiations on a new comprehensive agreement, which is viewed as a significant step toward expanding trade relations. This renewed agreement aims to unlock potential opportunities for Azerbaijan and the EU to deepen their economic ties.

Von der Leyen expressed a commitment to work collaboratively to establish lasting peace in the South Caucasus, improve connectivity with Europe, the Caspian region, and Central Asia, and strengthen the partnership between the regions.
