Von der Leyen Highlights Azerbaijan’s Strategic Role in Regional Cooperation

Baku: "Few countries are as well placed as yours to drive regional cooperation and stability," President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen stated during joint press statements with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, von der Leyen emphasized that "Azerbaijan tactfully combines its strategic geography with its growing economic, political, and regional influence." She expressed that these qualities make Azerbaijan a key player in the region, which is why the European Union is proposing to launch an EU-Azerbaijan Connectivity Partnership.

Von der Leyen's remarks underscore the importance of Azerbaijan's location and its expanding role in regional matters, which aligns with the EU's strategic interests in fostering cooperation and stability in the area. The proposed partnership aims to strengthen ties and enhance collaboration between the EU and Azerbaijan, potentially benefiting both parties economically and politically.
