Tashkent: Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are enhancing their collaboration in urban planning, as highlighted by Aziz Arkabayev, a representative of the National Committee on Urbanization of Uzbekistan, during the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13). Arkabayev emphasized the active involvement of Azerbaijani companies in Uzbekistan's urbanization and construction of new residential areas.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, large-scale urban projects are underway in Uzbekistan, with Azerbaijani firms playing a significant role. The Uzbek delegation is showcasing its national pavilion and the "New Uzbekistan" project model for the first time at the forum. Designed to accommodate the country's rapidly growing population, the project aims to provide housing for approximately two million people, with six "New Uzbekistan" residential areas currently under construction across various regions.
WUF13 serves as an essential international platform for discussing urbanization policy and urban planning methodology, Arkabayev noted. The forum facilitates the exchange of experiences related to housing provision, urbanization policy, and city development, with the primary objective of improving living conditions.
Arkabayev also highlighted the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in urban planning and construction. Azerbaijani companies are actively involved in constructing residential buildings, hotels, and significant residential complexes in Uzbekistan. The Uzbek representative praised the high level of relations with Azerbaijan, describing the collaboration as a testament to the strong ties between the two nations.
