Astana: During her visit to Astana, MP of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, Gunay Afandiyeva met with Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting focused on the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan partnership and integration processes across the Turkic world, highlighting the strong ties between the two nations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Gunay Afandiyeva emphasized the brotherly relations between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Their frequent mutual visits have laid a robust foundation for comprehensive cooperation. Afandiyeva underscored the significance of President Aliyev's state visit to Uzbekistan on 23 August 2026, which she deemed critical for the advancement of strategic relations. She highlighted the signing of the 'Treaty on Eternal Friendship between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan' by both heads of state, marking a modern-era testament to their historical ties and longstanding friendship.

Ambassador Bakhtiyor Ibragimov pointed out the importance of the ongoing expansion of relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. He remarked that the bilateral ties are thriving, grounded in shared historical and cultural roots.
