TASHKENT— Uzbekistan's trade turnover with China witnessed a slight decline in the first eight months of 2024, contrasting with the overall increase in the country's total foreign trade figures.

According to Trend News Agency, Uzbekistan and China's trade from January through August 2024 totaled $8.01 billion, marking a decrease of 3.2 percent from the $8.28 billion recorded during the same period in 2023. Despite this decline, China remains Uzbekistan's largest trading partner in terms of volume during this timeframe.

From January through August 2024, Uzbekistan exported goods worth $1.3 billion to China, experiencing a significant drop of 30.7 percent compared to the $1.7 billion from the same period last year. However, Uzbekistan's imports from China saw a marginal increase, totaling $6.6 billion, up from $6.5 billion in the previous year. Overall, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover reached $42.7 billion, an increase of 6.7 percent from the $40 billion reported from January to August 2023.

The country's total exports from January through August 2024 were $17.3 billion, while imports amounted to $25.3 billion, reflecting a continued pattern of trade deficit.
