Azerbaijan Advances in Energy Management with Zangilan Digital Control Center

Zangilan—Azerbaijan has taken a significant step in enhancing its energy infrastructure by initiating the operation of the Digital Control Center for the Zangilan Electric Power Network, featuring underground cable lines for improved safety and efficiency. This project, operated by Azerishig OJSC, marks a pivotal development in the region's approach to energy management.

According to Trend News Agency, Rashad Ibrahimov, Deputy Head of the Karabakh DCC, detailed the structure and functionality of the new facility. "The Zangilan Digital Control Center building consists of two floors. The first floor houses two 2,500 kV power transformers and 35- and 0.4-kilovolt closed distribution units. The second floor contains control rooms, technical spaces, and utility rooms. To supply electricity from the 110/35/10-kilovolt 'Zangilan' substation, dual-circuit underground cable lines have been installed," Ibrahimov explained.

The center is designed to streamline the monitoring and management of the power grid through advanced technology. Ibrahimov emphasized the innovative aspects of the project, including the implementation of optical digital measuring transformers and new-generation digital equipment complexes at substations. "This project develops optical digital measuring transformers and new-generation digital equipment complexes at substations. It ensures precise measurements and automates processes, reducing human error, enhancing reliability, and lowering energy transmission losses. Additionally, it cuts production and operational costs," he added.

The facility also features an automatic control system that integrates renewable energy sources seamlessly, mitigates power outages, and provides online notifications to consumers about potential power supply disruptions. The digital substation operates in a multifunctional mode, adjusting to the energy transmission needs and ensuring optimal decision-making capabilities for data and security systems.

The innovative closed-type substation operates remotely, which eliminates the need for constant on-site personnel, further enhancing operational efficiency and safety.
