Uzbekistan Sets Dates for Early Voting in Upcoming Parliamentary Elections

TASHKENT—The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Uzbekistan has announced the scheduling of early voting for the forthcoming parliamentary elections, set to take place from October 16 to 23, 2024. This provision aims to accommodate voters who will be unable to attend their designated polling stations on election day.

According to Trend News Agency, the decision was made during the latest session of the Central Election Commission. The resolution facilitates early voting at both local and international polling stations, including those located at Uzbekistan's diplomatic and other representative offices abroad. Voting hours for early voters will be from 9:00 to 18:00 (GMT+5) on weekdays and from 11:00 to 17:00 on weekends.

This early voting initiative precedes the general elections scheduled for October 27, where citizens will elect deputies to regional, city, and district councils, as well as members to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of Uzbekistan. Competing in these elections are several major political parties including the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Business People, the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the Democratic Party of National Revival, the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, and the Adolat Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan.
