Baku: On August 6, the Baku Court of Appeal resumed hearings on the appeals submitted by several Armenian citizens, including Arayik Harutyunyan, Arkadi Ghukasyan, and Bako Sahakyan, who were previously convicted by the Baku Military Court. These individuals faced charges related to crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes stemming from Armenia's military actions against Azerbaijan, including aggressive war preparations, genocide, war law violations, terrorism, and other serious offenses.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the court session was led by Judge Elmar Rahimov, with Judges Emin Mehdiyev and Mehriban Garayeva. Reserve Judge Ali Mammadov also participated. The proceedings ensured that the appellants received interpreters for Armenian and Russian languages and were provided defense counsel. Representatives from the victims' side and state prosecutors, including Abbas Abbasli from the Prosecutor General's Office, were present. Observers from the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan attended the session as well.

The court announced its decision on the appeals, affirming the Baku Military Court's verdict from February 5, 2026. The initial verdict sentenced Arayik Harutyunyan, Levon Mnatsakanyan, David Manukyan, Davit Ishkhanyan, and David Babayan to life imprisonment. Arkadi Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan received 20-year sentences, Madat Babayan and Melikset Pashayan were sentenced to 19 years, Garik Martirosyan to 18 years, Davit Allahverdyan and Levon Balayan to 16 years, and Vasili Beglaryan, Gurgen Stepanyan, and Erik Ghazaryan to 15 years in prison.
