LERIK: During a visit to Lerik, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, engaged with the family of Khanish Shahiyev, a shepherd known for his connection with National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

According to Trend News Agency, the meeting highlighted the longstanding friendship between Heydar Aliyev and Khanish Shahiyev, as well as President Ilham Aliyev’s interactions with the shepherd. The gathering also served as a moment to honor the sacrifice of Shahiyev’s family members in service to their country.

The family of Khanish Shahiyev has endured significant loss, with Elgun and Altay Shahiyev, grandsons of Khanish, having been martyred in the Patriotic War. Additionally, Khanish’s sons, Jamal and Huseyn, lost their lives during the First Karabakh War.
