Baku: The hearings at the Baku Military Court on Monday featured emotional testimonies by victim Elshad Alishov regarding the extermination of the population of the Bashlibel village in the Kalbajar district. According to Alishov, he, along with his family members and relatives, had no choice but to escape the village using a tunnel following the occupation of the Kalbajar district.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Alishov described how the Armenian forces besieged the tunnel and fired upon every vehicle passing through it. He recounted that his mother was wounded in her leg, and his sister sustained injuries to her mouth. Despite managing to save his mother, Alishov expressed his sorrow at being unable to rescue the rest of his relatives trapped in the tunnel.
Alishov further testified about the plight of his neighbor, Yusif, whose family members were also injured in the attack, with Yusif’s brother losing his life. The ongoing trial addresses charges against Armenian nationals for crimes against peace and humanity, encompassing war crimes, acts of terrorism, waging and preparing for aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, forcible seizure and retention of power, and financing terrorism, all linked to Armenia’s military actions.
