Baku: Victim Sabir Guliyev testified during ongoing court proceedings at the Baku Military Court that he was exposed to an artillery strike from the Gorus side while passing through Lachin. He highlighted that during the occupation of Shusha, the civilian population was not provided with a humanitarian corridor.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Guliyev, a resident of the Goytala village in Shusha, recounted the occupation of the city by Armenian armed forces in early May 1992, which led to his displacement as an internally displaced person (IDP). Guliyev mentioned the tragic loss of his cousins, Tahir and Rafael Guliyev, during the conflict, noting that Tahir Guliyev’s body remains missing.

Guliyev described the dire situation during the occupation, stating that there was no humanitarian corridor for civilians. He recalled an artillery strike from the Gorus side while passing through Lachin, resulting in the death of an elderly woman. Upon visiting his father’s grave after the liberation of Azerbaijan’s territories, Guliyev found the grave destroyed and several gravestones damaged.

He lamented the destruction of property and villages, indicating that the locals were deprived of their homes, farms, and wealth, leaving the land in a severe state of disrepair. The court proceedings continue against Armenian nationals accused of various offenses, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, and terrorism. The charges extend to financing terrorism and other serious allegations.
