Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the Victory Museum in Baku, alongside a visit to the Victory Monument, APA reports. During the event, President Aliyev laid a wreath at the monument to honor the martyrs, while the First Lady placed floral tributes.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Victory Museum was developed following President Ilham Aliyev’s December 2020 order to establish a Patriotic War Memorial Complex. The museum aims to exhibit the heroism displayed by the Azerbaijani people in the Patriotic War and celebrate their victory. It also serves to honor the memory of the martyrs. The museum features eight exhibition halls, each focusing on different aspects of the conflict, including the historical context of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, the 44-day Patriotic War, and the liberation of Shusha.

The museum’s design incorporates international standards and cutting-edge technology. The exhibits include a range of materials such as photos, videos, interactive displays, and models, providing visitors with an immersive experience of the war and subsequent restoration of state sovereignty. The ‘Iron Fist’ installation, located at the entrance, symbolizes the historic victory, and the names of martyrs are engraved on the surrounding wall.

The exhibition halls cover various themes, from the natural beauty and historical significance of Karabakh to the detailed chronology of the conflict and the eventual victory. Interactive exhibits allow visitors to engage with the history and culture of the region, as well as the military operations that led to victory.

A significant feature of the museum is the ‘Path of Heroes’ hall, which celebrates the bravery and perseverance of Azerbaijani soldiers. Another hall, ‘Karabakh is Azerbaijan!,’ captures the nationwide joy of Victory Day, symbolized by a Murano glass installation of the Kharibulbul flower.

The museum also highlights the restoration and future development of Karabakh, showcasing ongoing efforts in rebuilding and sustainable development. An Auditorium, library, and cafe are included in the museum complex, providing spaces for educational events and research on Azerbaijani history and culture.

The Victory Museum, along with the surrounding Victory Park and Victory Arch, stands as a tribute to the 44-day Patriotic War, the victory achieved, and the memory of the martyrs. The museum is set to welcome visitors starting November 9.
