Berlin:VNG AG and SOCAR have entered into a long-term partnership agreement focusing on both immediate and future energy objectives. This collaboration was highlighted by Oliver Hill, Head of Corporate Development at VNG AG Group, at the German-Azerbaijani Strategic Partnership and Connectivity Conference.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the partnership aims to address short-term needs by supplying Europe with energy, including natural gas. In the long run, the agreement intends to transform the energy business from its current reliance on fossil fuels to a more sustainable and decarbonized model.

Europe has already started importing Azerbaijani gas this year, with plans to increase these volumes as a key objective. Oliver Hill noted that the long-term goals include advancing the energy transition in both Europe and Azerbaijan, securing 15- to 20-year gas supply agreements for Azerbaijan, and exploring investments in infrastructure. Additionally, there are plans to develop hydrogen and biomethane supplies for Europe.
