Volume of Azerbaijani gas transmitted via IGB unveiled

Volume of gas transported until end of June of 2023 has been announced since the start of commercial supply (from October 1, 2022) via Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), which delivers Azerbaijani gas to Bulgaria, APA-Economics reports citing Bulgarian press.

During the reporting period, 12.7 MWh (approximately 1.09 bcm - ed.) of gas equivalent to electricity was transported through the pipeline.

ICGB’s Executive Officers Teodora Georgieva and George Satlas emphasized in the First Half of 2023, 7.8 MWh or 669 mln. cubic meter of gas had been transported.

The total capacity of the IGB is 3 billion cubic metres (bcm) per year, with 1.57 bcm already booked under long-term contracts lasting up to 25 years. The remaining capacity is successfully being auctioned for different periods on the European platforms PRISMA and RBP.

Recall that Bulgaria's Bulgargaz company inked an agreement with the Shahdeniz consortium for the transportation of 1 bcm of gas per year within the framework of the Shahdeniz-2 project.
