Volume of Oil Transported via BTC Pipeline Decreases by 6.3%

Baku: Last year, 36,306.2 thousand tons of oil were transported through oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, marking a 6.3% decrease compared to the previous year, as reported by the State Statistical Committee to APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, 74.9% of this transportation was conducted through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil export pipeline. During the reporting period, 27,179.2 thousand tons of oil were transported through the BTC, which is a 7.8% reduction compared to the prior year.

Out of the oil transported via the BTC pipeline, 84.8% or 23,056.9 thousand tons consisted of oil produced in Azerbaijan, experiencing a 4.6% decline. Additionally, 15.2% or 4,122.3 thousand tons constituted oil imported from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, which saw a sharper decrease of 22.2%.
