Baku: The Western Azerbaijan Community has condemned a statement by Amnesty International regarding the Azerbaijani court's verdict against individuals of Armenian origin, labeling it as entirely unfounded and defamatory.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Western Azerbaijan Community has previously reached out to Amnesty International, seeking assistance in restoring the rights of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia. However, they claim that the organization has been non-committal and has abstained from supporting justice in this matter.

The statement from the community criticized Amnesty International's recent remarks, suggesting that they reveal the underlying reasons for the organization's non-specific responses. It accused Amnesty International of betraying its proclaimed values by siding with those responsible for ethnic cleansing and the Khojaly genocide, the anniversary of which is approaching. The community argued that Amnesty's stance reflects a political bias rather than a genuine commitment to human rights and humanitarian issues.

Furthermore, the Western Azerbaijan Community asserted that such a position by Amnesty International contributes to diminishing trust in international institutions globally.
