World Bank Explores Enhanced Cooperation with Azerbaijan Railways

Baku: Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY), recently engaged in discussions with a World Bank delegation headed by Charles Cormier, Infrastructure Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia. The meeting centered on evaluating the current cooperation status between ADY and the World Bank, emphasizing the potential for expanding relations, and discussing investment opportunities.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting also addressed the World Bank's role in the second phase of the Baku International Sea Trade Port and the provision of technical support for ongoing projects. Chairman Rovshan Rustamov highlighted the significant integration of the Baku International Sea Trade Port into ADY, which notably enhanced the efficiency of international transportation in the previous year. He revealed that in 2025, the Baku Port managed a record volume of container cargo, exceeding 107,000 TEU, which marked a 40 percent increase from 2024.

Charles Cormier expressed the World Bank's keen interest in reinforcing its partnership with ADY, acknowledging the advancements made by Azerbaijan Railways in developing the Middle Corridor. He suggested that these achievements present new opportunities for future collaboration between the World Bank and ADY.
