Baku: The World Bank (WB) has revised its natural gas price projections for Europe and the United States for the years 2025-2026. According to the World Bank’s October forecast, the average price of natural gas in Europe in 2025 is expected to be 12.1 US dollars per 1 million BTU, reflecting an increase of 0.5 dollars from the previous estimate. In 2026, this is projected to decrease slightly to 10.8 dollars, still 0.2 dollars higher than earlier predictions.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the World Bank projects that the average gas price in Europe for 2027 will further decline to 9.8 dollars. Meanwhile, in the United States, the average price for 2025 is forecasted to be 3.5 dollars per 1 million BTU, marking a 0.2 dollar increase from previous forecasts. For 2026, the price is expected to rise to 3.9 dollars, an increase of 0.5 dollars, which is also anticipated to remain stable through 2027.
The World Bank’s calculations indicate that in 2024, the average gas prices were 11 dollars in Europe and 2.2 dollars in the United States. Consequently, gas prices in Europe are predicted to rise by 10.4% in 2025, then decrease by 10.7% in 2026, and further by 9.3% in 2027. Conversely, the United States is expected to see gas price increases of 59.7% in 2025 and 11.4% in 2026, with prices stabilizing in 2027.
Notably, Azerbaijani gas began being transported to Europe via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) on December 31, 2020.
