Baku: The 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) is set to be held in Baku in 2026, marking a significant event in the realm of global urban planning. Eldar Rasulov, Media Relations Manager of the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company, highlighted the forum's importance as a collaboration between the United Nations Human Settlements Programme and the Government of Azerbaijan.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the forum will be the first of its kind in the Caspian and South Caucasus region, bringing together nearly 10,000 international participants. The total number of attendees is expected to reach approximately 30,000. The event will be distinguished by the participation of numerous heads of state and government, and it will feature 40 main sessions and 350 partner events. These main sessions will include simultaneous interpretation in eight languages, including sign language.

Volunteers are set to play a crucial role in the forum's success. A Volunteer Center has been established, and 16,000 applications have been received. Out of these, 2,500 volunteers will be selected after completing a training program to assist in various areas of the event. Currently, a staff of nearly 300 employees, mostly professionals experienced in organizing international events, has been assembled to ensure the forum's success.

The WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company commenced its operations on June 30, 2025, to prepare for the forum. In a short period, they have carried out extensive preparations in institutional preparation, spatial infrastructure planning, operations management, transportation, marketing, and communications.
