YAP Deputy Chairman Engages with Vietnam’s Communist Party General Secretary

Hanoi: Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman and Head of the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), met with To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on January 26. The discussions were centered around the historical and ongoing relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting highlighted the deep-rooted connections between the two nations, which trace back to the USSR era. Notable historical visits, such as the trip by National Leader Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam in 1983 and the visit of Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh to Azerbaijan in 1959, were fondly recalled. These visits have laid a strong foundation for the relationship between the two countries.

General Secretary To Lam reminisced about his visit to Azerbaijan last May and emphasized that the Joint Declaration on a Strategic Partnership between the two nations has elevated their bilateral ties to a significant level. Tahir Budagov, representing the Azerbaijani ruling party, extended congratulations to To Lam on his reelection as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Communist Party.

The meeting underscored the importance of the relationship between the ruling parties of both nations in fostering and developing bilateral ties. In addition to his meeting with To Lam, Tahir Budagov also engaged with Nguyen Minh Vu, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam.
