Istanbul: A visit to Trkiye was organized for participants of a series of awareness sessions for young media representatives held on June 17-19, 2026, within the framework of the Energy Dialogue Platform, APA-Economics reports. On the first day of the visit, the young media representatives visited SOCAR's office in Istanbul and familiarized themselves with the company's activities.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mikayil Yusifov, Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Communications and Government Relations at SOCAR Trkiye, provided detailed information on the company's activities, projects, achievements, and strategic goals during an information session. He also addressed questions from the media representatives, offering insights into SOCAR's operations in the country.
On the following day, the group traveled to Izmir, where they attended an information session at SOCAR Trkiye's administrative building in Aliaga. Ahmet Glhan, Deputy Head of Finance of SOCAR Trkiye's Refining and Petrochemical Business Unit, delivered a presentation on the activities of the Petkim petrochemical complex and the STAR Refinery. He highlighted their production capacity and discussed planned projects for the future.
Further elaborating on SOCAR's capabilities, Uygun Degirmenci, Chief Executive Officer of SOCAR Terminal, spoke about the terminal's operations and recent measures to expand logistics capabilities. He emphasized achievements and efforts to enhance efficiency and service quality in cargo transportation.
Mehmet zenbas, Corporate Director for Sustainability and HSE at SOCAR Trkiye, discussed the role of environmental, social, and corporate governance in the modern business environment. He shared information on the company's projects related to operational efficiency, sustainable development, and digital solutions implemented at its facilities.
The visit concluded with field tours to the Petkim petrochemical complex, the STAR Refinery, and SOCAR Terminal. Young journalists gained firsthand experience of the operational activities and modern technological capabilities of these facilities, enhancing their understanding of SOCAR's expansive operations in Trkiye.
