Baku: Zimbabwe has expressed its respect to Azerbaijan for its contribution to transforming the World Urban Forum (WUF) into a leading global platform, Zimbabwe's Minister of Local Government and Public Works Daniel Garwe said during the Leaders' Session organized within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Minister Garwe highlighted the significant role Azerbaijan has played in elevating the WUF. He noted that the forum has become a prominent platform dedicated to the planning, building, and governance of cities globally. Minister Garwe extended his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people for their warm reception and hospitality towards the Zimbabwean delegation during their stay in Baku.
The minister emphasized that the participation of heads of state and government in WUF13 underscores the growing global prioritization of sustainable urban development. He pointed out the forum's importance in reinforcing political commitment and crafting actionable strategies to confront challenges such as the global housing crisis, informal settlements, and homelessness.
