25 more families receive keys to homes in Azerbaijan’s Aghali-UPDATED

Today, a caravan of 25 families, comprising 123 residents, from Baku city, set off for the Zangilan district's Aghali village, APA reports.

Vahid Hajiyev, special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts, which are included in the East Zangezur economic region and other officials welcomed the residents of Aghali. Subsequently, former forced migrants, who have returned to their ancestral homes, were presented with the keys to their new residences, and the families settled into their new homes.

Within the framework of the Great Return project, a total of 133 families comprising 649 individuals have been relocated to Aghali village in the Zangilan district as of today.

The newly relocated families will be provided with employment opportunities that match their professional skills and abilities by the respective institutions. They will work in various state agencies, public catering facilities, construction companies, sewing factories, and other places.

All necessary infrastructure facilities are available for the relocated population, including government service centers, schools, gardens, banks, post offices, public catering facilities, and other amenities.

Currently, preparations are underway for the relocation of the next families to Aghali village, and it is planned to implement this process in the coming months.

On September 13, another migration convoy set off from Masazir village in the Absheron district towards the rebuilt Agali village in Zangilan district, APA reports.

So far, 25 families comprising 123 individuals, temporarily relocated in the cities of Baku and Sumgayit, as well as the Absheron district, will now commence their lives in their ancestral homeland. They are residents of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Agali villages, which were completely destroyed during the occupation by Armenians.

The residents of Aghali have been enveloped in the all-encompassing support of the state. They have expressed their gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev, the Victorious Commander-in-Chief, and to the First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva. They are also thankful to the valiant Azerbaijani Army, which liberated our lands from occupation, as well as to our heroic soldiers and officers.

The allocation of housing for forcibly displaced persons is currently being conducted through a transparent and fair process based on the existing regulations. The allocation process took place through a lottery system at the State Committee's Repatriation Department on September 8.

The departure ceremony was attended by representatives of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, the Special Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts, Zangilan District Executive Power and other officials.

With this, the number of families permanently settled in Agali village will reach 133, totaling 649 individuals. The process of resettlement will continue in the village.
