Azerbaijan Allocates Significant Funds for Public Debt Servicing in Early 2026

Baku: Azerbaijan has allocated a total of 524.2 million manats for servicing its public debt in the first quarter of 2026. The expenditures included payments on both domestic and external debts, with 132.5 million manats dedicated to domestic debt interest payments, and 391.7 million manats on external debt, comprising 269.5 million manats on principal and 122.2 million manats on interest.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, operational data from the Ministry of Finance indicates that the external public debt of Azerbaijan, as of April 1, 2026, stood at 4,689.3 million U.S. dollars. This amount represents 6.1% of the projected GDP for the current year. The level of domestic public debt reached 16,492.9 million manats, accounting for 12.6% of the projected GDP.

The figures reflect Azerbaijan's commitment to managing its public debt through strategic allocation of funds, ensuring that both domestic and external obligations are met efficiently. The financial maneuvers are part of the country's broader economic strategy to maintain fiscal stability and support economic growth.
