990 Candidates to Vie for Parliamentary Seats in Azerbaijan


LONDON — The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission has confirmed that 990 candidates will compete for 125 seats in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Chairman of the Commission, Mazahir Panahov, provided details on the nomination and approval process. Initially, 1,508 candidates were nominated, with 1,462 being approved to proceed. The candidates had until August 2 to submit their required documents to district election commissions. The elections are set for September 1, promising a competitive race with a high number of contenders.
