Astara: About 20 Ukrainian citizens were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan starting this morning, APA’s South Bureau reports. The evacuation is a result of a mutual agreement between the involved nations. The foreign citizens are passing through the “Astara” state border checkpoint, where they are received under the escort of border guards.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, each foreigner arriving at the checkpoint is welcomed with an invitation to a tea table. If necessary, a standby medical team is available to provide primary medical aid. Since the morning, small groups of U.S. and other foreign citizens originally from Iran, as well as the Ukrainian citizens, have been entering the checkpoint for evacuation.

The evacuees have noted that despite the early hours, there are still many people waiting to cross on the Iranian side, indicating a high demand for the evacuation process. The coordination between the countries aims to ensure the safe passage and well-being of those being evacuated.
