Nakhchivan: The European Union (EU) supports Azerbaijani municipalities that have joined the Mayors Initiative through training and methodological assistance, specialized technical support, best practices, as well as experience-sharing, networking, and awareness-raising activities, said the EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Marijana Kujund‚¬¦¾ic, at an event held in Nakhchivan dedicated to the 'Covenant of Mayors - Eastern Partnership' initiative.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the Ambassador opened the event with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the role of cities in achieving concrete results in the fields of climate and energy. She also called on municipalities to join the initiative, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in addressing climate challenges.
The Covenant of Mayors - Eastern Partnership is an initiative funded by the European Union. It provides support to local and regional self-government bodies in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine, focusing on the development and implementation of sustainable energy and climate policies.
