Energy Efficiency a Key Priority of Azerbaijan’s Sustainable Development Agenda – Energy Ministry Official

Nakhchivan: Energy efficiency is one of the key priorities on the sustainable development agenda of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said Jahid Mikayilov, Head of the Energy Efficiency Department of the Ministry of Energy, during an event held in Nakhchivan related to the 'Covenant of Mayors - Eastern Partnership' initiative, APA-Economics reports.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Mikayilov emphasized the importance of local-level actions in achieving tangible results in energy efficiency. He highlighted that the Covenant of Mayors - Eastern Partnership initiative serves as an essential platform for municipalities, providing them with mechanisms to implement energy efficiency strategies. The Ministry of Energy is committed to supporting local self-government bodies to maximize these opportunities.

Mikayilov elaborated on the benefits of joining this initiative, which can facilitate various energy efficiency measures. These actions include reducing heating costs in administrative buildings, enhancing thermal insulation, optimizing energy consumption in social facilities, and transitioning to LED lighting systems.
