Baku: Trkiye is advocating for the swift operationalization of the Turkic Investment Fund among member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), as stated by Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz during a meeting of prime ministers and vice presidents of the OTS member states in Baku. Yilmaz emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening ties among Turkic states amidst global and regional challenges.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Yilmaz highlighted the significant potential for cooperation in areas including renewable energy, natural gas, electricity networks, and critical minerals. He pointed out that projects like the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline could substantially contribute to the development of the member countries and enhance regional energy integration.
Energy and transit are inseparable, and the Trans-Caspian East-West International Transport Corridor is emphasized as a strategic route that strengthens supply chains, diversifies trade, and enhances connectivity among the member states. This corridor, extending from Central Asia via the Caspian to Trkiye and Europe, is crucial for regional integration.
Trkiye plays a key role in this corridor, supported by its strong infrastructure and an extensive road and railway network, notably the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line. Moreover, the development of transport corridors should be closely linked with the simplification of customs procedures and trade facilitation. Joint meetings among relevant institutions and collaboration between private sector representatives are encouraged to achieve shared objectives.
