BAKU — Azerbaijan’s skies are set to dazzle with the e-Perseid meteor shower, active from September 5 to 21, with a peak expected on September 9, as reported by the Department of Astrophysics at Baku State University (BSU).
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meteor shower, resulting from Earth passing through debris streams left by comets and asteroids, will be visible from Baku nightly between 19:30 and 05:45. The intensity of the shower will culminate around 05:00, when up to 10 meteors per hour may be observed streaking across the sky. These meteors, often referred to as “falling stars,” ignite upon colliding with Earth’s atmosphere at altitudes of 70-100 kilometers.
