Baku: Armenia stands to gain significant economic and transportation advantages through newfound access to Iranian and Russian railways, as confirmed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. During an interview with local television channels, Aliyev emphasized the collaborative infrastructure projects underway, which are set to bolster regional connectivity and economic prosperity.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Aliyev highlighted the ongoing construction efforts in Garabagh and East Zangezur, which are designed to link these areas to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The projects encompass various sectors, including green energy, agriculture, irrigation, and tourism. Aliyev reiterated the peaceful nature of these developments, asserting that such projects would have proceeded regardless but are enhanced by the current tranquility.

Aliyev also pointed out the mutual benefits for Armenia, as the initiative promises to break Armenia's current isolation. The opening of roads between Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey will facilitate Armenia's access to Iranian railways through Nakhchivan and to Russian railways via Azerbaijan. Aliyev stressed the economic and transport advantages, noting that no parties should view themselves as losers in this scenario. He encouraged a pragmatic perspective, suggesting that all involved could derive substantial gains from the collaborations.
