Baku:The volume of motor vehicle transportation by ferry vessels of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping CJSC (ASCO), a subsidiary of AZCON Holding, has increased in the first eight months of this year compared to the same period last year.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, ASCO reported that 28,178 motor vehicles were transported by ferries from January to August this year, up from 25,641 vehicles during the same months in the previous year. This represents a 10 percent increase in the number of vehicles transported.

Additionally, there was an increase in transportation by tonnage. From January to August this year, 728,536 tons of motor vehicles were ferried, compared to 643,623 tons in the same timeframe last year, showing a 13 percent rise.

Transit motor vehicle transportation by ferry vessels also saw an uptick, reaching 678,760 tons in the current reporting period, which is 9 percent higher than the figure recorded last year.
