Baku:Jurgen Klopp's tenure as Germany's national team coach faced another setback with a 1-0 defeat to Greece in the Nations League, marking the first time Germany has lost to Greece in their footballing history. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, this loss follows a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands, leaving Klopp still searching for his first victory since taking over. Germany's winless streak now stretches to four matches, dating back to their World Cup group stage win over Ivory Coast on June 20. The defeat also impacts Germany's standing in the Nations League, as they now trail group B leaders Greece by five points, with four matches left to play. Germany is currently third in the standings, behind the Netherlands, who secured a victory over Serbia. Klopp, who took over from Julian Nagelsmann in August, aims to recover with a match against Serbia in Munich on Thursday. Germany will then travel to Thessaloniki to face Greece again on October 4. This challenging start for Klopp sees him as the firs t Germany coach since Helmut Schon in 1964 to not secure a win in his first two matches. Schon eventually led Germany to significant successes, including the 1970 World Cup and 1972 Euros. Since his era, nine German managers had won at least one of their first two games before Klopp's appointment.
