Baku: In January 2026, the average monthly nominal wage of salaried employees in Azerbaijan amounted to 1,103.8 manats, APA-Economics reports, citing the State Statistical Committee. This marks a 3.8% increase compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, as of February 1, 2026, the number of salaried employees in the country reached 1 million 782 thousand people. Of these employees, 861.4 thousand worked in the public sector, while 920.6 thousand were employed in the non-state sector.
Among the salaried employees, 18.6% were engaged in trade and repair of motor vehicles, while 18.3% worked in education. The industry sector employed 13.8% of salaried workers, and 8.6% were involved in health and social services. Other notable sectors included construction at 6.5%, public administration and defense; social security at 6.2%, and transport and storage at 4.4%. Additionally, 3.8% of employees were in professional, scientific, and technical activities, 2.4% in financial and insurance activities, 2.3% in agriculture, forestry, and fishing, with the remaining 15.1% employed across various other sectors of the economy.
