Baku: The Middle Corridor is becoming a key trade route between Asia and Europe, said Djoomart Otorbaev, former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, during his speech at the panel discussion titled 'The Middle Corridor and the Eurasian Connectivity Gateway' held within the framework of the 13th Baku Global Forum, APA reports. He noted that the importance of the Middle Corridor in terms of global trade and logistics is rapidly increasing.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Otorbaev highlighted that the main driving force of the Middle Corridor is the substantial China-Europe trade. He emphasized that rail transport, being faster and more efficient, is bolstering the role of this route. The Middle Corridor is seen as a crucial logistics pathway connecting Japan, China, Southeast Asia, and India with European markets, especially amid current geopolitical shifts.
Otorbaev pointed out Azerbaijan's critical role in ensuring connectivity between Asia and Europe, underscoring its emergence as a significant transit hub in the region. He noted that container transportation along the Middle Corridor has been rapidly growing due to strengthened cooperation among countries along the route. This cooperation focuses on developing infrastructure and harmonizing logistics regulations, contributing to the route's increasing significance in global trade.
