Astana—Kazakhstan has revealed new exit poll results regarding the construction of a nuclear power plant, with a significant majority of 72.3% of participants favoring the project. The results highlight a strong public endorsement for nuclear energy, as the country moves to diversify its energy resources.

According to Trend News Agency, the Institute of Public Policy, affiliated with the Amanat Party, conducted an extensive exit poll during the October 6 referendum. The poll found that 27.7% of voters opposed the nuclear plant project. The institute involved 600 interviewers and supervisors, covering 300 polling stations, with a total of 44,160 people participating.

An earlier report by the Institute of Comprehensive Social Research - Astana provided similar findings, showing 69.8% in favor and 30.2% against the nuclear plant. These results corroborate the public's growing acceptance of nuclear power as a viable energy source.

The Central Election Commission reported that the referendum saw a turnout of 63.87%, with 7.8 million out of 12.24 million eligible citizens casting their votes. Turnout varied significantly across regions, with the highest in the Kyzylorda region at 82.48% and the lowest in Almaty at 25.39%.
