Baku: Azerbaijan Airlines, under the umbrella of AZCON Holding, has collaborated with Uzum Bank to offer passengers from Uzbekistan enhanced online payment options. Travelers can now purchase tickets on the airline's official website using the national payment cards HUMO and Uzcard, facilitated through Uzum Bank's secure payment infrastructure. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, this initiative aims to bolster convenience and accessibility for passengers traveling between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as well as to other destinations within the airline's extensive route network. Uzbekistan is recognized as a rapidly developing market in Central Asia for Azerbaijan Airlines, which currently operates seven weekly flights between Baku and Tashkent and two weekly flights between Baku and Samarkand since April last year. This has resulted in a significant increase in passenger traffic, with the Baku-Tashkent-Baku route seeing a 58% rise and the Baku-Samarkand-Baku route experiencing a 174% increase over the past six months. This growth illustrates the increasing interest in business, leisure, and cultural exchanges between the two nations. Jamil Manizade, Chief Commercial Officer of Azerbaijan Airlines, emphasized the importance of enhancing the travel experience by expanding payment options for Uzbek passengers, highlighting the integration of modern financial technologies to ensure transaction security and user comfort. Roman Lavrentyev, CEO of Uzum FinTech, noted the growing mutual interest between the people of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, with air traffic intensity between Tashkent and Baku surpassing seven regular flights per week. He stressed the role of fintech platforms in supporting this mobility through seamless digital and financial tools. The national carrier remains committed to advancing its digital services, providing passengers with modern, secure, and convenient solutions for planning travel and purchasing airline tickets.
